Issue credentials from Excel in six steps
- Create a badge design — give the credential a name, description, and criteria, add an image, and set any CEU or CTDP/APTD hours. This is the achievement every recipient in your spreadsheet will receive.
- Prepare your Excel file — add a header row with a name column and an email column, then one row per recipient. Save it as .xlsx (a .csv export works too). Keep emails clean — one address per row.
- Upload the spreadsheet — open bulk issuing, choose your badge, set the issue date for the batch, and upload your file. GrokCred reads every row.
- Review the per-row preview — valid recipients are marked ready, and any row with a missing or malformed email is flagged so you can fix it before issuing.
- Issue the batch — confirm to issue every valid row at once. Each recipient is automatically emailed their badge with a verification link, an email-signature snippet, and Add to LinkedIn.
- Recipients verify and share — every credential gets a public verification page anyone can check, plus a machine-readable Open Badges 2.0 assertion. No account required for recipients.
Tips for a clean upload
- Use plain headers like "name" and "email" so the columns are easy to map.
- One recipient per row — don't combine multiple people in a single cell.
- Double-check email addresses; the preview catches malformed ones, but correct emails ensure delivery.
- Set the issue date once for the whole batch; you can edit it before issuing.
Frequently asked questions
Does my file have to be Excel (.xlsx)?
No. GrokCred accepts both Excel (.xlsx) files and CSV (.csv) files, so an export from Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers all work.
What if some rows have errors?
The preview flags any row with a missing or invalid email before anything is issued, so you can correct it. Valid rows are unaffected and can still be issued.
Will recipients be notified automatically?
Yes. By default every recipient is emailed their badge as soon as it is issued, including a verification link and a one-click Add to LinkedIn button.
Is bulk issuing on every plan?
Bulk issuing from a spreadsheet is available on the pay-per-use and subscription plans. See the pricing page for the details of each tier.
